We contacted the artist via email to ask for permission to use their song "miles apart" for our music promo. We found their email on their profile on unsigned.com. Unfortunately we did not receive a reply but we have decided to use the song anyway as we have a strong narrative idea to go with the lyrics.

Group discussion ideas
In our group discussion we came up with an initial idea for our music promo. We wanted the narrative to be linked to relationships as the lyrics strongly suggest this.
Instead of doing a narrative based around a normal break up we wanted to make it a little bit more interesting and different by making the main character/singer a stalker who wants to be in a relationship with a girl, but she is taken. The main story line is that you don't know that he is a stalker until later in the song where he starts to go crazy and the point of view changes from his own to reality as for the first part we show his idea of the relation ship, its not until later in the song where you realise he is imagining it and he is driving himself crazy and obsessing over a girl.
Alongside the narrative we will also use performance of the main guy miming and playing guitar, we want have another band members as we want to base it all around him and his story. To show how obsessed he is with this girl we will show shots of things that he has such as a picture of her as his screensaver etc...
We want to use an amplification narrative and use the lyrics "here we go again" in which he will repeat waking up in the morning and going to find the girl.

Use of intertextuality
Use of intertextuality
Some songs in the genre of indie rock use intertextual links in their videos to help increase its popularity in their audience. For example the band Gorillaz used intertextual links in their music video for ‘Clint Eastwood’. They made references to the music video ‘Thriller’ by Michael Jackson, this is shown in the choreography that is used by the gorillas in the music video.

Another intertextual links used in indie pop bands is The Killers in their music video for ‘When You Were Young’. I don't think that there was much intertextual reference to a specific product, however you could say that there was intertextuality because of the influence on the western films. The setting is reminiscent of the 'Spaghetti Western' movies, such as the costume and the saloons used in the music video.
For our music video we have not discussed in detail about putting in any intertextual links, this is because we are unable to currently think of any intertextual links that would suit the theme of the song and would suit the genre of the music. If we put in an intertextual link in the music video and it didn’t suit the genre of the music people would question why we put it in the video. So we are deciding that for now there will be no intertextual links in the music video.
